Nancy Grace Blog – Riding the Popularity Wave

“I don’t care what you say about me, as long as you say something about me, and as long as you spell my name right.” – George M. Cohan. Good publicity, bad publicity, its still publicity, and in our society publicity equals to fame, and fame equals to money. Celebrities, sports icons, politics, all of these have been the subject of blogs and websites who have rode on the popularity of others to bolster their own. Sometimes, even in the darkest moments of these popular figures, a number of bloggers have followed in the wake of their path satisfying the curiosity that wallows naturally in most of us. And these were apparent in the times when a celebrity, media, or political blog would become a “Nancy Grace Blog“.

Victim’s rights advocate, former prosecutor, TV journalist and host, and legal commentator, Nancy Grace is an outspoken woman that has caught the eye of the national public more than several times in her career and has spurred heated discussions and debates separating the opinions of society on her take on the matter. In several instances, Nancy Grace has received flak and stark criticism for her statements, especially for her alleged embellishments on the murder of her then college fiancé Keith Griffin, to which she would always go back to as the driving force for her dedication to her advocacies, and in several popular topics of public interest.

Pretty much controversial throughout her career, Nancy Grace was once the subject of a Supreme Court opinion on a case which she handled as a prosecutor to which the opinion said “the conduct of the prosecuting attorney in this case demonstrated her disregard of the notions of due process and fairness, and was inexcusable.”

Controversies such as these followed Nancy Grace throughout her career and at the peak moments of those times, the blogging community would take on the persona of a Nancy Grace blog and would play host to the different thoughts and insights of the American society.

It is in moments like these that the community needs to have access to information and they turn to the internet to gather all the data that they can get. Blogs, despite some being biased, would become the source of this information as they are in the forefront, by sheer number, of the online community. This sudden spike in the popularity of blogs is the moment where blogs can define themselves as reputable sources of information and the authority on the matter. And as such, they build their brand and increase their traffic. Hence, the Nancy Grace blog is certainly riding the wave of popularity.
